An Introduction
My name is KEN COLLOFF and I have been researching the RAWLINGS name for a number of years, along
with my cousin ANN PAYNE nee STRETCH. Both our mothers were RAWLINGS sisters, hence the interest.

This site covers our RAWLINGS ancestors who lived in LEYTONSTONE, ESSEX, from the 1600s to
the mid 1800s when they moved to Stepney in the East End of London. They stayed there untill the mid
1920/30s when they returned to Essex, a little place out in the sticks in S.W.Essex called the
Becontree Estate, better known now as Dagenham.

We come from a long line of JONATHAN BURTON RAWLINGS. Four to be exact. Prior to that it was plain
JONATHAN RAWLINGS b c1760. That was untill he married an ESTHER BURTON in 1785.
Since then they have used her maiden name as the males second Christian name.

Would also like to thank PENNY BELL for her imput. Penny also comes from the same line as Ann and myself.
Penny's Great Grand Father, WILLIAM GEORGE RAWLINGS b 1875 is our Grand Fathers older brother.
Always nice to come across distant cousins.

A vote of thanks also to the "Waltham Forest Archive and Local History Library" for the work they have done on the
name indexes, which helps a great deal in researching our ancestors.

At present we have three outline descendant trees, the first one starting 1640ish to 1700s. The second one starts 1750ish
and continues to the 1870s. the third covers from 1760s up to the present day.I only wish we could join them together.
